There was a time when soba noodles were deemed for the lower class and consequently, nobles were forbidden to eat them. What a shame. Now, when I go to Soba-Ya to eat some delicious homemade noodles, I see celebrities like Maggie Gyllenhaal with her beau, Peter Sarsgaard, and Kate Hudson with her son, Ryder.
This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is soo delicious, light, refreshing, and I can never discount their impeccable service.
My usual order:
mori noodles: cold plain noodles
served with inari sushi and soy-based dipping broth
tomato salad.
sliced tomatoes, chopped onions, seaweed, and "special sauce."
The special sauce is very special.
